I love my wacom and use it frequently in Illustrator and Photoshop, but rarely as a pure drawing/painting tool mimicking that of the traditional pencil/brush. These days, I mostly find myself working on web projects which involve a lot of photo-manipulation and vector whizz-bang graphics in full technicolor and as a result I rarely just sit down and draw for the heck of it. The truth is I’ve never been what I would consider a very gifted person at drawing (I think I’m competent, but not exceptional) and I’ve never been happy with any human face I’ve ever drawn. So I thought I’d try my hand at sketching some faces to remember and practice my basic drawing skills.

Here’s a couple that I’ve done in the past few days just having some fun. An angry old man and a young girl. The angry old man could possibly be a pre-cognitive self-portrait.

Central Ohio Rain Garden Initiative

Check out the work i did for a brand new website and initiative of the Franklin Soil & Water Conservation District(FSWCD) called the Central Ohio Rain Garden Initiative(CORGI). The purpose of the site was to promote rain gardens, events surrounding the initiative, and to allow the good folks over a FSWCD to keep track of any new installations. Sierra Club Ohio Chapter

Shortly after finishing up the CORGI Project I started A new site design for the state chapter of the Sierra Club. They needed an easy to update site that could cover multiple topics and groups and really required a lot of good content strategy work  to create a site that communicated everything that needed to be on the page in a coherent and organized way. In addition to the State Chapter, each local group has a need for a site and events management system. These sites are being built out now as subdomains from the state chapter. By leveraging the power of RSS, WordPress, and widgets we are able to achieve a level of consistency across multiple sites and provide easy maintenance by sharing widgets. Check out the Post Here

A.B. Miller Photography

ABMillerPhotography.com is the all new home of freelance photographer Amanda B. Miller. This site required a very clean design to showcase the stunning visual work of the photographer on this professional blog. Sure, I could’ve went with all white and a slow and fancy flash gallery, but that would be something you’ve seen before wouldn’t it? So, Instead I decided to use WordPress and standard html so the author could actually update the site galleries and all. With the help of some beautiful images provided by Amanda, some easy jQuery, and snappy little light box gallery; I think we achieved a gorgeous colorful showcase for her blog and her work without looking like a boring all white Apple store.Check the Post here for more
