Apples a go-go
One of the first things you’ll learn to draw is the apple. It’s a simple thing to draw “an apple”, but that’s why you do it. An apple can be all sorts of things. An apple has character, it’s not a sphere. How will you as the artist give your apple character? So while it is rudimentary, here are a couple of my takes on “the Apple”. The first is the caramel apple, one of my favorite treats. I tried to give this one a candy feeling that just makes you want to take a bite. The second is a much more stylized apple that apparently has some supernatural powers.
Whipcode.com
WhipCode.com is a HTML/CSS tutorial site I created as an example for beginners to learn standards based web design. It includes a walk-through of reading material and ends with a video tutorials. It’s quite a bit out of date at this point and all of the videos but one have disappeared somewhere into the ether that is expiration based media hosting services, but the design is still pretty neat. Maybe one day I’ll come back and update it for HTML 5 and CSS 3.
“On The Rocks”
Buckeye Forest Council
I worked with the Buckeye Forest Council to create a fresh new look for their website while incorporating the original logo concept. They needed the ability to update the site on a regular basis and a way of collecting subscribers and managing e-mail campaigns. The resulting site was built on top of the Joomla CMS.
